Title: The Last Vampire
Author: Kathryn Meyer Griffith
Publisher: Damnation Books
Publication Date: Revised Edition – October 2010
eBook: 422 KB
Genre: Horror, Fantasy, Paranormal, Romance

Author’s new revised edition…never before released as an ebook! The earthquakes with their falling ash, the global floods and the devastating fires arrive first. Then the worldwide plague with its stench of death. And as mankind suffers and dies out, vampires, their numbers dwindling, struggle and fight fiercely among themselves to survive in a world where there aren’t enough humans to prey and feed upon. As the weeks go by they become fewer, more desperate and more ruthless.

Emma, as the world disintegrates around her, finds herself alone, family all have perished…and fending off an unnatural hunger as she becomes one of the undead. Fighting her unwanted destiny she’s determined to resist the bloodlust she feels, the need to kill and feed on humans, of losing her humanity, for as long as she can bear it…but she’s so hungry…and the night calls.

My Opinion:
Best original vampire story I have read. I was amazed at the imagination and creativity of the author. Not only are we in a world that is self destructing. We are in Emma’s world of how her life is going and the turmoil within. Why is she alive? What will she do? How will she survive? I was engrossed in this story and didn’t put it down till I finished it and it took me awhile. I loved the descriptiveness of the book throughout. There was no point in this book that I couldn’t imagine what was going on. I wasn’t lost of confused. I loved it! Emma is struggling to survive in a hostile and desolate world. Along her journey she is turned into a shape shifting vampire. She struggles to survive what has now become in her nature – blood. Emma needs to find out what to do in this ever changing environment. She meets Matt along the way and the two slowly become involved. She struggles with what is left of her humanity by becoming something she never wanted to be. This epic tale of horror, fantasy, paranormal and should be on everyone’s top 10 list to read. You will not be disappointed in reading this.

I give The Last Vampire by Kathryn Meyer Griffith 5 of 5 stars. It is also another 2012 favorite!

About the Author:
2012 EPIC EBOOK AWARDS NOMINEE for her romantic horror novel The Last Vampire-Revised Author’s Edition

Since childhood I’ve always been an artist and worked as a graphic designer in the corporate world and for newspapers for twenty-three years before I quit to write full time. I began writing novels at 21, over forty years ago now, and have had fourteen (nine romantic horror, one historical romance, one romantic suspense, one romantic time travel and two murder mysteries) previous novels and eight short stories published from Zebra Books, Leisure Books, Avalon Books, The Wild Rose Press, Damnation Books and Eternal Press.

I’ve been married to Russell for thirty-three years; have a son, James, and two grandchildren, Joshua and Caitlyn, and I live in a small quaint town in Illinois called Columbia, which is right across the JB Bridge from St. Louis, Mo. We have two quirky cats, ghost cat Sasha and live cat Cleo, and the four of us live happily in an old house in the heart of town. Though I’ve been an artist, and a folk singer in my youth with my brother Jim, writing has always been my greatest passion, my butterfly stage, and I’ll probably write stories until the day I die.
