Description of Book from Back Cover:
Frankenstein, Dracula, Mr. Hyde, the Phantom, the Hunchback…they’re all here, the ones you grew up watching on the silver screen. But these monsters aren’t lumbering across a fog-shrouded moor or clambering along the ramparts of a Gothic castle; no, they’re here, in sunny modern-day Southern California, in places you know and may have visited. That homeless vet with the rebuilt leg lounging before the liquor store in Santa Monica – could that be Frankenstein’s monster? The eerie host making promises at the end of an Orange County amusement park ride – is he really the Devil? Some of these monsters you might recognize instantly – it’s hard to disguise a Giant Monster, after all – but you’ll never know what to expect in these stories that range from black humor to the farthest extremes of extreme fiction.
My Opinion:
I enjoyed this book a lot. I found each of Lisa’s story’s fascinating. I simple loved the twists on each of these. It was a very enjoyable thing. I was expecting it to be just a tidbit of each story but some lead into each other. I loved it. I have a few favorites in it. Lisa writes extremely well and had me absorbed in the book. There was some great horror elements in these stories and so very different from my childhood. I couldn’t help but be bought back to a time when I would watch some of these older movies. I think this is a fantastic collection. I am glad I was able to read this and rate this high on my list of re-reads. Lisa gives us her renditions of all those childhood favorites like Dracula, The Mummy, Frankenstein, Cat People and many more. All with a new modern day twist to them. If you like horror you will love this collection. Some of the stories are bizarre and even scary. Best of all they are well written! I highly recommend this book!
I give Monsters of L.A. by Lisa Morton 5 of 5 stars.

This book’s premise sounds really intriguing and I like the idea that is about a variety of monsters, including Dracula.
